Sunstone is a feldspar that contains millions of tiny copper and hematite platelets — flat, reflective, aligned. When light hits them, they flash in unison: a phenomenon called aventurescence, or more simply, schiller. It looks like a sky full of stars, or the surface of a lake at sunset, or embers stirred in a fire.

Cut as a smooth round cabochon, the schiller is given room to breathe. Facets would break the effect into pieces; a dome lets the whole surface glow as one, shifting from deep amber to bright copper depending on the angle of the light and the tilt of the head.

Set in warm yellow gold with a double bezel frame, each earring is a small sun — warm, self-contained, impossible to ignore. The floral openwork back is visible from behind, a detail meant for the wearer alone.
